UN: Gaza Facing 'Catastrophic' Hunger as Aid Blocked
International organizations warn of imminent famine as humanitarian convoys continue to be obstructed.
The United Nations has warned that Gaza is facing "catastrophic" hunger levels as humanitarian aid convoys continue to be blocked from reaching the besieged territory.
UN officials report that only a fraction of needed food supplies are entering Gaza, with the population facing severe malnutrition. Children are particularly affected, with thousands at risk of starvation.
"We are witnessing a man-made famine unfolding in real time," said the UN humanitarian chief. "This must stop immediately."
International pressure has intensified on Israel to allow more aid access, with several countries threatening to suspend arms sales if the humanitarian situation does not improve.
