SpaceX Starship Achieves First Successful Landing
Historic milestone brings humanity closer to Mars as largest rocket ever built completes full flight test.
SpaceX has achieved a historic milestone with the first successful landing of its Starship rocket, the largest and most powerful launch vehicle ever built.
The vehicle completed a full orbital flight before returning to Earth and landing on its launch pad, demonstrating the technology needed for rapid reusability. Previous attempts had ended in explosions.
"This is a great day for SpaceX and humanity's future as a spacefaring civilization," said CEO Elon Musk. "Mars is now within reach."
NASA, which has contracted Starship for its Artemis moon landing program, congratulated SpaceX on the achievement. The milestone could accelerate timelines for human missions to the Moon and eventually Mars.
