India-Pakistan Tensions Flare After Kashmir Border Incident
Exchange of artillery fire along Line of Control raises concerns about escalation between nuclear-armed neighbors.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply following an exchange of artillery fire along the Line of Control in Kashmir that killed several soldiers on both sides.
Both countries summoned the other's ambassador to deliver formal protests. India accused Pakistan of initiating the firing, while Pakistan blamed Indian aggression.
"We will respond with full force to any provocation," said India's Defense Minister. Pakistan's military spokesman warned of "serious consequences" for continued Indian actions.
The incident has drawn international concern, with the United States and China both calling for restraint between the nuclear-armed rivals.
