The Biden administration has announced 100% tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, dramatically escalating trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.
The tariffs also cover EV batteries, solar cells, and critical minerals, effectively blocking most Chinese clean energy exports to the American market. Officials cited national security concerns and unfair subsidies.
"China's trade practices threaten American jobs and our economic security," said the US Trade Representative. "These tariffs level the playing field for American workers."
